so i finally replaced my jacked camera (thanks norcal) and i can resume recording ma vie avec des photographies. does anyone remember the part in gremlins 2, when dracula was trying to find someone to work a video camera? he finds one asian dude and asks him "do you know how to work a camera?" and he answers "work a camera? i am camera!"... um yeah, i sorta feel like that guy.

the emperor yu was one of china's legendary leaders. he was renowned for taming the floods that ravaged chinese rivers.
most my life, i've lived in atwater village, a small sect of los angeles nestled by the banks of the LA River by Griffith Park. the last four years, i lived in a city called riverside in the inland empire. apparently, the "river" in riverside is long extinct, but i'm starting to think that rivers are a major part of my destiny. it's been raining at 1/10 biblical proportions lately* and my ancient chinese river blood is compelling me to photograph the angry river.
*40 days for noah. 4 days for us.

i took a trip to the river again today and took more pics of graffiti. these pieces are actually quite huge. i was probably 40-60 yards away at the freeway. so they appear smaller because of scale. most of these letters are over 5 feet high and 30 feet long.

ok, my friends and i are kinda dorky. we used the movie swingers as the model for our day. 3 par golf at los feliz and then drinks at the dresden. i introduced the kids to the bombest armenian chicken joint this side of the mediterranean (zankou baby! zankou!!!). we bar hopped from the dresden (los feliz) to charles' (glendale) to the roost (atwater) and then club tee yee (atwater). the roost smelled kind of bad (like body funk and popcorn), but it's colorful clientele and cheap drinks got it the "official arthur yu venue of the night" award.
